SESSION
South Dakota Airport Zoning Study
A report on the findings of a study of the public use airports in the State of South Dakota and the Zoning and Procedures established to protect airports from surrounding obstructions and incompatible land uses.
The State of South Dakota commissioned a study of what protections exist around airports in regards to height, land use and noise compatibility. The results of this study provided a clear portrayal of the gaps that exist when entity that operates the airport does not necessarily have the zoning authority to protect the airport.
