Come hear from several perspectives on how we can ensure we create implementable plans by starting the process with implementation in mind.

Derek Teini, AICP
Community and Economic Development Director
City of Laramie

Derek T. Teini, AICP is the Community and Economic Development Director for the City of Laramie, Wyoming. Originally from Sheridan Wyoming, Derek attended the University of Wyoming where he received his Master’s in Planning. Derek also has a B.S. in Geology with a concentration in Environmental Science and Natural Resources. Starting as an intern while in school, Derek now has worked for the City of Laramie Planning Department for over 19 years. Derek has been a key figure in many major projects within the community including Laramie’s Comprehensive Plan, Aquifer Protection Plan, Cirrus Sky Technology Park and Unified Development Code. Derek is also a member of WYOPASS and currently is an At-Large Board Member.

Rocco is the Economic Development Director for the City of Evanston. Rocco holds a B.S. Political Science & Government from the University of Wyoming. Rocco is proud to work for a community that values family, tradition, history, and the great outdoors.

Mark Christensen, AICP, is a Partner and Senior Planner for AVI PC in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mark enjoys working with communities to solve a variety of issues regarding entitlements, housing, brownfields redevelopment, and downtown revitalization.

Melissa is an AICP certified community planner with experience working in communities across the mountain in both the public and the private sector, ranging from public participation and engagement to long-range comprehensive plans and land use code drafting. Melissa specializes in small town and rural planning, focusing on action-oriented plans and land use code implementation.

Lonnie Olson, AICP Candidate
Project Manager
Wyoming Water Development Office

Lonnie Olson is a Project Manager for the Wyoming Water Development Office where he works on Level I and Level II municipal and irrigation water master plans across the state. Previously he was the Long Range Planner for the City of Cheyenne working with the Historic Preservation Board, Urban Renewal Authority, and was the manager of an EPA Brownfield Assessment grant. Outside of work, Lonnie enjoys biking, baking with his sourdough starter, and spending time with friends and family.
