Join us for an immersive case study session on Butte-Silver Bow Housing Plan, where we delve into the intricate web of housing affordability, attainability, and housing options. This session will discuss the planning effort’s collaboration with agencies and stakeholders while navigating challenges like infill, city services, social vulnerability, and lingering effects of the mining activity in Butte. Attendees will engage in an interactive group activity, which will focus on implementing the plan within an assigned neighborhood or special area of Butte-Silver Bow. This session offers a dynamic platform to exchange ideas, share experiences, and chart a collective path towards resilient and inclusive housing solutions.

Rachel has a passion for both rural and urban planning which grew from the dichotomy of being raised outside of Boston and having deep family roots in Eastern Washington. As an Associate Principal for SCJ Alliance Consulting, Rachel manages the Spokane office, as well as a variety of planning projects and teams. She has worked in the public and private sector, and previous to SCJ Alliance, was a planning director for multiple communities in Colorado. Rachel has a B.S. in Architecture from Roger Williams University and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Eastern Washington University.

Aren is a Planner and Project Manager at SCJ Alliance's Spokane, WA office. He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor’s in economics in 2013 and later returned for the Master of Urban and Regional Planning Program, graduating in 2019. Aren’s background in economics complements his career in planning and helps him understand the balance between visioning and feasibility- an important piece of making planning projects become reality.
