SESSION

Futures Thinking and Scenario Planning

Scenario planning methods are growing in use as communities consider the value of 'futures thinking' and extending the timescales for long-range comprehensive planning. This session provides an overview of the scope of scenario planning as a recognized planning process method, introducing a range of scenario planning approaches and how to apply them, including a demonstration of how scenario planning is being used in Wyoming's Upper Snake River watershed to develop new adaptive capacity in response to climate change and related impacts on water availability. Information on how to learn more about scenario planning methods and additional resources will also be provided.
